C3 Suspension upgrades

Postby VetteMan » May 14th, 2010 7:30 pm

I hear there are options for upgrading the suspension of C3's. I find my car suspension to be a bit soft through corners and it tends to lean alot under hard turning. I'd like to stiffen this up a bit, but I don't want the car to drive like a tank either. Is it possible to have the best of both worlds? What kits do people recommend for upgrading suspension? What are the pro's and con's of these kits?

I figure I may as well do something while I wait for my engine to be built. :)

I don't think there's such thing as the best of both worlds when it comes to a C3. You'll need to decide if you want a performance suspension system with a stiffer ride, or a softer suspension setup with a smoother ride.

I opted to do an extensive upgrade using a kit from Vette Brake Products (VBP). I obviously haven't had a chance to test it out yet, but I've heard good things.
Someday I'll finally be able to drive my Vette, but for now I'll just admire all the pieces... :willy:

I also looked into the packages by Vette Brakes, and had a chance to visit their store in St. Pete Florida (as that is where I am located. I also looked into the packages by Van Steel Corvettes, in Clearwater Florida. Visited them as well. By far, preferred the product, customer interaction, advice and quality of Van Steel over Vette Brakes. The people at Vette Brakes seemed like they thought of you as a nussance when you asked them questions about their stuff, whereas Van Steel was extremely helpfull. I went with Van Steel on new upper control arms, offset rear control arms, front and rear sway bars, brakes and springs and new half shafts. Verrrrry happy with the products and especially the support they give. If you want to look into them, their web address is http://www.vansteel.com and their phone number is 1-800-418-5397.
