I've actually learned to "hate" bodywork a bit less lately. Primarily because I learned that using good materials, equipment and techniques makes a huge difference! High-quality body filler, good sanding blocks and clog-free sandpaper make it sooo much easier and yield such better results!

Completing the first round of body work on the rear clip has given me a great boost of confidence. When I primed it I was honestly impressed with how well it came out.

I'm loosing temperatures pretty quickly now though - it's starting to cool off pretty quickly. I need to hurry up and get the doors primed. I took a 4 day weekend this weekend and need to try to cram some work on the Vette in together with a bunch of other plans.

Still toying with the idea of having the remaining body work completed by a professional. Not because I don't think I can do it, but because I've just really struggled to find time to work on the car lately. I'm still undecided but there's a local guy who does it on the side and is a self-professed perfectionist. I may have him come by and give me a price. If it's reasonable I may go in that direction... still haven't decided.

I've also been working on a new update. I started it about two months ago but juts haven't had time to finish it yet. Story of my life these days...

I should add that even if I have someone else do the body work I'm going to document the process with pictures and a write-up. It may not be as detailed as what I typically do, but it'll be something. I don't want to have any gaps in my restoration story!

Finished gutting the doors yesterday, prepped them for paint and sprayed some epoxy primer. I think they came out pretty good. I took a few photos but forgot to take some during the final prep and painting process. I'll try to get a few put up this weekend.

My goal is to finish the remaining rough body work I'm planning to complete in the next couple weeks. Once complete I'm going to have a guy come over and give me his thoughts and a rough cost for finishing the body and paint work.

If I can get my act together, and get the car off to the body guy soon, I might even be able to park my truck in the garage this winter.

Hey guys, I know I've been MIA lately but there's been a lot going that hasn't left much time for anything. Craziness...

However, I'm happy to report that my porch and landscaping project is essentially complete, and it only took 3 summers! Thankfully that means there's one less project competing for my time. I'll post some pictures when I have a chance, it looks real nice.

The new aluminum radiator and electric fans I bought about two months ago are still sitting in their boxes waiting to be installed. It looks like I'll be able to spend some time in late June cleaning the garage (it desperately needs it) so I can continue with the project during my week off in July. Fingers crossed nothing comes up...

I'm on vacation next week and expect to make some real good headway on the Corvette - barring any unexpected surprises that is.

Hey Tim,

Hope you're getting that time you wanted for the Vette! Would you consider writing up a side article on the behind-the-scenes of how you manage to work simultaneously on the car and the website? I'm gearing up to emulate you (may as well, since you inspired me in the first place), and it'd be great to see how the sausage is made. I'm thinking it'll take 4 times as long to document it as it will to actually just do it...

Anyway, it'll be nice to see an update after 2 yrs!

I'd guess I've probably spent equal amounts of time restoring the vette, figuring out what to do/buy for the vette, and developing the website. Their all giant time sucks.

My current website is very antiquated as it's developed using entirely HTML code. New sites nowadays are built primarily using pretty slick content management systems (CMS) like Joomla, Wordpress or Drupal which is a lot easier. I'm working on migrating my site to a CMS site but that remains a work in progress. I'm pretty particular about how things look so it requires some custom coding, style sheets, etc. It's not high on my priority list though so I haven't made a ton of progress. I should probably move it up my list though... Maybe this winter I'll get back into it.

If you know little about website design Wordpress is probably the way to go - it's the easiest to use.

And, for what it's worth, it hasn't been 2 years since my last update, it's "only" been about 9 months.
