Re: Body off the frame pictures

Hi Paul I'm looking at a couple of option, the front clip has to come off so if I'm able to I was thinking of just having a few guys to help me pick the body up without the clip on and placing it on the frame then put the front clip back on. Can the clip be put back on like this ? If I'm unable to d...

Re: Body off the frame pictures

Hi Kenn The body lift was just something I built as i went along, I used 2 x4 for the bottom part 4 x4 for the posts and two 2 x 8 for the cross over beam it worked real good, I was building a deck at the time so I screwed it all together and then used it for my deck once I got the body off. Body off the frame pictures

Here are some of my pictures of when i removed the body, I did not think the frame was that bad until I removed the body, this project has also become a environment project due to the fact that I saved this old vette a last ride to the landfill/dump. The last picture is a good southern frame that go...

Re: Trailing arm bearing pre load.

Hi Tony and Tim Thanks for the advice, like Tony says I'm going to live in the real world and leave the end play were it is, I don't like to press the new bearing on and off to many times and I'll see if I can get the end play on the other trailing arm alittle closer. I don't think I'll get the othe...

Re: Trailing arm bearing pre load.

Hi Tim You got me thinking about if I got to much end play, I'm at the very top end of allowable play, the spacer and shime kit that I got from corvette central has 9 shimes and there all 0.006 difference in sizes, like I said in my last post I had no end play untill I put the next size shime in. I ...

Re: Trailing arm bearing pre load.

I just put my trailing arm together and I can see that the tool for adjusting the end play would be handy but I got mine done without it. One mistake I did was that I didn't check the end play before I dismantle the trailing arm so when I went to put it back together with the new spacer I measured t...

Re: Trailing arm bearing pre load.

Hi Tony I'm just putting my trailing arm back together on my 77 vette and my manual also says to tighten them down to 100 lbs and if the cotter pin dosn't line up to tighten it untill it lines up. I'm also changing the wheelbearing spacer and it talks about that there is a end play allowance of 0.00...

Re: Pictures of My 71 Restoration

Nice pictures, the frame and engine looks really good, makes me want to start removing the body off my vette but I have to wait till spring due to the lack of space in my garage and the cold winters. Keep the pictures coming.

My 77 corvette project

Here are some pictures of my restoration project, as you can see I'm removing the first of layer of brown paint with a razor, the original colour is orange. The engine is the L48 with about 70,000 miles, I plan on removing the engine on my next hitch home (I'm the Cheif Engineer aboard a offshore fr...
