Re: 1973 restoration

Hey, I had installed a Lincoln mark VII radiator along with a Champion aluminum radiator. Had a lot of issues with this setup. turns out the Lincoln rad is a monster when it comes to wattage. when installing one you would need at least 50 amp relays and a some heavy duty fuses to go with it. I also ...

Re: 1973 restoration

Thank you Tim, Vito, and nwav8tor, it was a fun tedious four years but was able to finish the Vette. Have driven it about 100 miles trying to sort out some of the gremlins. I had initially installed electric fans along with a three-row aluminum radiator. The system worked fine keeping the vette cool...

Jim Shea’s thoughts on replacing an OEM energy absorbing, collapsible steering column with an aftermarket steering column I am going to give you Jim Shea's opinion on this matter. Re: 1973 restoration

Hey MaineVette, the primary motivation was that the previous owner really botched the horn assembly and jerry rigged everything in the upper portion of the column. He even put tape on the telescopic column so that the horn won’t go off... the telescopic spring makes contact with a set of brass conta...

Re: Photos/Measurements of Vacuum Hose Clip Locations Needed

Hey, can you take a picture of the back of the alternator. Particularly the electrical connector, there is a black wire and brow wire coming out of it on top of the alternator. I am having some difficulty finding out where this wires go. My connector was so old that it fell of before I was able to t...

Re: 1973 restoration

Hey Vito, took it apart only to the turn signal electrical switch. Everything else on it was ok... Lubed the bearing and cleaned it up with some paint. The horn mechanism had to be rebuilt though the owner before me butchered this section and jerry rig the horn to work with a toggle switch. Zip Corv...

Re: 1973 restoration

Completed rebuilding the steering column, the rebuilt was simple as most of the components where there with the exception of a few missing horn activation springs and pin. It looks like some whack job at some point omitted the horn for whatever reason. Dumb people instead of fixing things they butch...

Progress continues on the Vette. Installed the hood, headlight vacuum actuators, rubber hoses, and valves. This was followed by the installation of the radiator and electric radiator fan.
